If say my friend is having trouble with setting up something on his/her computer, I can remotely connect the his/her computer from my phone and then help the person out (with his permission). Let us first see what are all the things we need to do on the computer in order to prepare it for remote access from a phone.

- Click on the Remote Access.
- Set up Remote Access.
- Set up a Name and PIN for Access.
Step by Step Method to Configure Chrome Remote Desktop
Step 1: Visit Chrome Remote Desktop Website to get started. Upon visiting the website, you can click on the Remote Access option on the Top Menu.
Step 2: Next up, Sign in to Your Google Account.Chrome Remote Desktop will be attached to your Google Account.
Step 3: Setting Up Remote Access. Once you have signed in to your account, you will see the above screen which tells you to set up remote access. Click on the Download Button to start.
Step 4: When you click on the Download Button, it will prompt you to install Google Chrome Remote Desktop Plugin for Google Chrome.
Step 5: Once the Extension is installed, you need to configure a name for your computer. After that you need to setup a PIN for accessing the computer. Click on Start after you have set a PIN. The computer will prompt you for access, Click on Yes.

You can do the above mentioned configurations by installing the Chrome Remote Desktop App also. The procedure is very similar. Here is how you can set up remote access using the Chrome Remote Desktop App.
Step 1: First of All, Download Chrome Remote Desktop App from Chrome Webstore. Once it is installed, you can launch the app by going to Apps .
Step 2: Launch the Chrome Remote Desktop App. You need to logged in to your Google Account on Google Chrome.
Step 3: Click on Enable remote connections and setup a PIN. Once that is done, Allow the prompt from computer.
That’s it now you have enabled remote connections to your computer with the help of Google Chrome Remote Desktop App.
Configure Chrome Remote Desktop on Phone
Now we can see what needs to be done on our phones to be able to remotely connect to the computer which we just setup.
We just need to Install the Chrome Remote Desktop Companion app on our phones. The application is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Once you have downloaded the application, its pretty straight forward. You have to be signed into the same Google Account that we used to set up remote connections on our computer. After you have signed in, the connected computers will be visible in the application. It also shows the status of the computer whether it is online or offline.
Clicking on the Computer name from the My Computers list shows you an authentication popup where you need to put in the Security PIN that we have created before on our computer. Only if the PIN is correct the connection will be established.
Earlier I have told you about unattended access, here we don’t have to allow or attend the computer to start remote connection from a phone. We just need to authenticate the session and we can remotely access the computer.
Here you can see that I can access my computer without any issues. You can do all things that you would do normally on the desktop. I can open folders, view images etc.
The functionalities that you get are pretty limited, because it is focused on making things simpler. You have to modes to control the desktop- cursor mode or the touch mode. In the Cursor Mode which is depicted by a Mouse symbol, you can see the mouse cursor move as you interact with the phone screen. In the Touch Mode, you can touch on the icons or interact with the pc as you would do on a touchscreen computer.
Another option you have is send Ctrl + Alt +Del command to your computer. This is used to access the security options on a Windows Computer, were you can restart the PC, Open the task manager etc.
If you need to close the remote connection, You can click on Stop Sharing button on the bottom of your computer screen from your phone. This will terminate the session.
